Supermileage Vehicle

The supermileage vehicle has been an ongoing ME design project for many years. The objective is to build a car for the SAE Supermileage competition held every year in Kalamazoo MI in late May or early June. The 1995/96 entry called Squall finished 3rd in a field of 24 competitors from all over NA with an average of 780 mi/gal. During the competition it became clear which aspects of the car could be improved, namely, clutch, transmission and size and weight reduction. In addition a new engine has to be built since last year's model is discontinued. This is a project that requires interest, dedication and enthusiasm. Besides the technical activities, students will have to be involved in fund raising as well as PR activities. More details about the car can be found in the ME home page (www.me. tuns.ca) under Supermileage Car.
