Welcome one and all to the Website for Group Five! We cannot wait to show you more of what we hope to accomplish and it will all be coming along very shortly!

The project we've chosen this year is to help bring a lot of happiness into the lives of children who attend the Sir Fredric Fraser School in South End Halifax.  How can that possibly be a mechanical engineering project you ask? Well in the next 8 months we plan to show you!

It's called the Earth Wheel, and what it does is entertain groups of children with a variety of disabilities.  Currently the earth wheel is a gigantic music box which entertains children who are blind or visually impaired with a range of sounds including cymbals, drums, bells, gongs and horns. The children make their own music and power the wheel by using it like a merry-go-round, being rewarded by new combinations of sounds depending on how they walk, run, lift or shake the wheel.

Unfortunately the earth wheel has fallen into a state of disrepair, being outside and exposed to the elements for 10 years has worked its cathodic magic on the inside and outside of the structure rusting it away so that it produces less and less sounds, and less and less play value.

So what can you expect from us?  We intend to reinvent the Wheel!  Partnered with our clients at the Sir Fredric Fraser School we intend to make the Earth Wheel better than ever, with a range of audiences that will include all the of the students that are enrolled.  The Earth Wheel will be pleasing to all the senses, with colors, textures, sights and sounds to entertain time and again!
