We are three mechanical engineering students in our final year at Dalhousie University. As part of our design project, we are constructing a supermileage vehicle a.ka. Black & Gold Tiger and we will be participating in the Shell Eco Marathon Competition. For the purpose of the design course, we are responsible completely for the design components of the:
Engine & Fuel Delivery
Powertrain & Wheels
Chassis
The super mileage team is actually composed of six student volunteers in addition to us who have helped us in other areas of the project.
The Shell Eco-Marathon Competition is held every year. This time in Houston, TX March 29- April1, 2012. We are competing against high school and university student teams from around the Americas to design, build and test energy efficient vehicles. With annual events in the Americas, Europe and Asia, the winners are the teams that go the farthest distance using the least amount of energy. The track will be on city streets of downtown besides the George R. Brown Convention Center.
We will be taking part in the gasoline internal combustion engine category. We are aiming for 900+ miles per gallon taking Dalhousie further than any team before. We humbly hope, our website is informative and illustrates our great design and hard effort!
Further information on the competition can be found on the shell website.
